The terms,
without the fog.
What you can expect from us, what we need from you, and the few things we cannot be responsible for.
These are the terms you agree to when you send goods to Airvax Express Cargo, ask us to buy something on your behalf, or use this website. They apply alongside anything specific we have agreed with you in writing.
Quotes are estimates until we weigh it
The calculator on this site, and any figure we give you before your goods arrive, is an estimate based on what you have told us. The price you actually pay is worked out from the weight and dimensions we record at our warehouse, at the published rate for that kind of goods on that route. Where volumetric weight is greater than actual weight, the larger of the two is what is charged — this is how every air and sea carrier prices freight.
We send you the real figure before anything ships. Nothing moves until you approve it.
Buying on your behalf
When you ask us to purchase something for you, we quote the product cost, our fee, the shipping and the expected clearance as separate lines. We buy nothing until you have approved that quote in writing — a WhatsApp message saying yes counts. We pay the seller what the seller charges and show you the receipt; if the price has moved since we quoted, we come back to you rather than absorbing it or passing it on silently.
We are not the manufacturer or the seller. Warranty claims, wrong sizes, colour differences and seller disputes are between you and the shop you chose, though we will help where we reasonably can.
What we cannot ship
Anything prohibited by the export law of the country it leaves or the import law of the country it enters. That includes, and is not limited to:
- Explosives, flammable liquids and gases, fireworks, and aerosols under pressure.
- Lithium batteries shipped loose, and power banks above the carrier's limit.
- Narcotics, and prescription medicines without valid documentation.
- Currency, bullion, bearer instruments and uncut precious stones.
- Weapons, ammunition, and parts of either.
- Counterfeit goods, and anything infringing a trademark.
- Live animals, plants, seeds, and perishable food.
- Pornographic and other material prohibited on import.
If you are unsure, ask before you buy. Goods we find to be prohibited are held and reported to the authorities as the law requires, and we cannot refund freight on them. Declaring the contents of a parcel accurately is your responsibility, and a false declaration is the one thing that will end the relationship.
Duty and taxes are yours
Our charge covers freight, handling, clearance work and delivery. Any customs duty, VAT, levy or penalty assessed by the government on your specific goods is separate and is payable by you. We pass these on at cost with the official receipt attached — we do not mark them up. We cannot tell you what an officer will assess before they assess it, and a duty figure higher than you hoped for is not grounds to refuse the shipment.
Storage
Goods may sit in our warehouse free of charge for 30 days from the day they arrive, which is what makes consolidating several orders into one shipment worth doing. After that a storage charge applies, and we will tell you the rate before it starts. Goods left unclaimed and unpaid for six months may be disposed of to recover what is owed, and we will write to you twice before that happens.
Payment
Invoices are in LKR and payable on receipt unless we have agreed credit terms with you in writing. We do not take payments through this website and will never ask you for card details by message. Goods are released once the invoice is settled.
Damage, loss and delay
We photograph your goods on arrival and once packed. If something reaches us damaged, you will know before it ships. Claims for damage in transit must reach us within seven days of delivery, with photographs.
Our liability for loss or damage is limited to the lower of the declared value of the goods and the limit set by the carrier's conventions for that mode of transport, and in no case more than the freight charges paid plus that limit. We are not liable for indirect losses — a missed sale, a delayed event, a lost opportunity — nor for delay caused by customs inspection, weather, strike action, carrier schedule changes or any other matter outside our control. Fragile items shipped without adequate packing by the seller travel at your risk; tell us and we will repack them properly for you.
Tracking
Every shipment gets a tracking number, updated by the people handling your cargo. Dates we give are honest expectations, not guarantees, and we will tell you when one changes.
Using this website
The rates, transit times and store listings here are published in good faith and can change. Nothing on this site is a binding offer until we confirm your shipment in writing. The links to shops are there for convenience; those sites are not ours and we are not responsible for what happens on them.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Sri Lanka, and the courts of Sri Lanka have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
